Kind of an interesting application, but it runs very slow unless you have a good GPU.
Has anyone else played around with this?

Yeah, I saw that program on main page, but didn't download it.
Is it worth to install and use?

It is very resource intensive, my comp at work couldn't handle it, but then I have a crappy graphics card.
It looks like a nice toy, but I have no idea if it truly improves the desktop envirnment, as I was unable to fully test it.
And it is propretary (no source code).

Well,
standard Windows XP Luna theme is good for me. Few year ago I have used Object desktop, but it was a wasting of resources

true, but the point of windowblinds is to change the window decorations and widgits. An interesting persuit, but not wholly useful.
Making a truely 3d desktop envirnment would be interesting: the only problem is making sure it is using proper hardware acceleration. This would speed things up temendously.
Visual effects are one of the quickest ways to bog down a processor with redundant crap, especially if you don't need it; however a good desktop envirnment can improve efficiency and productivity: look at macintosh. They pride themselves on creating a very usable desktop envirnment.
I have gotten to the point where nothing but gnome makes me feel fully at home, but I like learning about and trying desktop envirnments.

3D effects on desktop... I'm not sure about that

Maybe it looks nice at first, but after using it some time...?
Few year ago I was tyring Microsoft BOB - 3D desktop replacement (actually it's very very old). Fun to play, but nothing serious

This is not like bob. This is a lot like the new 3d envirnment from Sun, it hasn't been released yet.
You have a task bar, but when the windows minimize, they go into a visual background. And when you scroll around the screen, it adds offsreen desktop space, like you are inside of a massive sphere.
Its kind of interesting, but my machine was unable to handle it (had to use software openGL... ugh!). I am quite used to multiple desktops though, and on my home system I regularly use all 8 virtual desktops!
