I know, there are a lot of people with different opinions, but i'd like to know:

How do you think, which internet browser is best and why?

I used Internet Explorer which comes with Microsoft windows by default, when i was newbie in the internet smile.gif Later i started to use MyIE2 (now it's called as Maxthon), which was based on Internet Explorer's core, but had more features.

And i installed Opera at the end of 2003 year and still using it. This internet browser has all the features which i need (Passwords Wand for example, which is very useful), is fast and stable.

Also i read about Mozilla Firefox 1.0 Final at Software News Article today. What's about this one?

I use Avant Browser, it's also based on IE, but with tabbed browsing, ad/popup blockers. Easily configurable, and it lets you to open your favorite pages on startup. Also, with three clicks you can clean the typed pages list, and all other records. It's easy to search with it.

Good browser.

Voted for Opera.

Simple to use, fast and full-featured internet browser.

Avant Browser! It's the best 4 me wink.gif

I see that I'm the only Maxthon user. Works well for me as I'm a creature of habit. Blocks popups and with the right protection, you will not get hijacked. However, I'm trying Firefox right now and am liking it pretty well also. We'll see.

I voted for OPERA ... hands down ... I would not touch IE with a ten foot pole ... all the wholes in it make it a risky proposition.

wacko.gif Think about it ... how may of you would buy and drive a car ... that every so often it called you in to fix the gas leak in the lines??? wacko.gif

Raise your hand if you would ... I didn't think so. tongue.gif

Though I have never tried Firefox or Mozilla or Maxthon ... so I can judge them!!!

Enjoy ALL ... and happy holidays to ALL cool.gif

Yes, Internet Explorer has serious bugs. And after visiting some porn websites with IE, people are calling - "Help, help, my homepage is changed and i can't change it back, i have one thousand search bars installed on my PC and i can't delete them" laugh.gif

What the holidays are you talking about? smile.gif About Christmas holidays? unsure.gif

Well I think I'm the only one staying with IE wink.gif. So what? On XP SP2 there aren't many bugs wink.gif (I know a few, but noone has tried tricking me in social engineering, so I don't see the risk). It;s not THAT bad. BTW, I hate Opera, because of it's banners and stuff sad.gif. I've tried Avant Browser, but I didn't like the way it's compelled - the toolbar sucks. I think I could try Mozilla Firefox, because I have browsed the web on my friend's PC with Mozilla, and really liked it smile.gif.

i am sorry but i have to go for maxthon biggrin.gif
ManXP
Yes, Maxthon (also known as MyIE2) is a very good choice too, but new version are too much overloaded for me.

Maybe i'd be using Mozilla Firefox, but it doesn't work with one of my most used programs - Iternet Download Manager, so i'm still with Opera smile.gif
IRCMan
Just Opera!

Why? I'll tell you some reasons and examples:

People browse the net with Internet Expolorer... After few hours they are screaming: "Oh god, i have one million of search bars installed on my Internet Explorer, i get tons of pop-ups with pr0n every minute, Messenger windows (yes, these with OK button, used as netsend) interrupt my work, please help me!!!"

Oh, i forgot to add trojans and automatic dial tools laugh.gif

Yes, use Internet Explorer just in one case - if you don't have a connection to the internet at all laugh.gif

What banners?? Didn't see any in full registered version wink.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Internet Explorer sucks laugh.gif

Voted for Mozilla FireFox browser. Much better and doesn't have all the security holes found in IE. Doesn't install spyware and adware itself. Works faster.

About Opera's ads. My friend uses Opera and he even doesn't think to remove these ads. Doesn't use any cracks/serials/keygens to register his copy of Opera and says, that ads at the top of browser window doesn't interrupt any work and blinking banners are much better than creepy IE.

True..
Used that version of Opera for half a year..
Banners are far less atractive as in Software-News.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Voted for Maxthon (My IE2). It's nice and really powerfull tabbed internet browser. Installed this first time more than year ago and still using.

About original Internet Explorer: why do you say it sucks? Believe me, you don't need to browse porn websites all the day and clck on every "Yes" or "Agree" button laugh.gif

You are so damn right!

It's one of the biggest risk factors to catch a virus (as in real life).
Unless you use some security stuff..
Because initially, IE has some holes.. mad.gif

And I personally have caught some troyan twice while installing modem without firewall... wacko.gif
At least you can pick up bout 20-30 spyware and adware things per week using IE and not clicking "yes"..
Danzel
Yes, it's people problem, if they use bugy Internet Explorer :) Microsoft plans to release IE version 7 soon, as i heard, but this version will have just some bug fixes and nothing more. Like s

That's why my vote goes for Opera - really fast and simple internet browser. It loads all the pages as fast as no one other browser loads and has a lot of customization functions. Even if it is shareware - Opera isd worth your money as never.

Installed Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1 today and can compare + and - of Firefox and Opera

Opera disatvantages (compared with Firefox):

Doesn't have any plugins to install. It was a main reason to install Firefox, because it has great Google's PageRank plugin, which displays page's PR on status bar.
Different proxy configurations are not available. It would be good to select another proxy just by clicking a button in toolbar like in Firefox.
Not possible to change user's interface. Not talking about skins etc, but Firefox has an ability to edit interface files. For example, you can make all links with a rel="nofollow" tag to be displayed in red and so on.

Firefox disatvantages (compared to Opera):

Bad passwords manager. Opera has much better.
Auto refresh by clicking "Back". I hate this feature on Internet Explorer (when a part of page is reloaded when user press "Back" button) and Opera doesn't make it.
Terrible bookmarks manager. It's just crappy compared to Opera.
I can't make new pages to be opened just in new tab without launching new window. Needed to edit system files, too bad.

That was my first impression after running Firefox for 1 day...

Nice short review, ManXP.

But i'm still using Mozilla Firefox. I'm not a professional computers user like you and Firefox browser is the best choice for me.

Fast and simple - everything i need smile.gif

Firefox is what I'm using. Used Konqueror for a while when I switched to linux but it wasn't nearly as good as Firefox. Had a small problem with some sites but most of them seem to like it now. Nicer to use than IE, tabbed browsing, and a great password manager (or is that just Linux?)

No, it's not just Linux. Firefox has password manager itself. Some people still claim that Opera password manager is easier to use.

When you use Firefox, it's need to type username into a dedicated field and then password is entered automatically. Using Opera it's enough to press CTRL+ENTER only and username/password is inserted.
